I don't know one person who has not tried Khichdi. We all eat khichdi, some eat it without being awed by the dish, its history or ingredients - while others eat it fully realising the historic, cultural and nutritional value. Allow your child into Khichidi world where they can learn all about this common yet mysterious dish. Tracing the origin of Khichidi and showcasing how the dish differs across regions in India, readers are encouraged to understand how historic food can be. In order to explore the nutritional elements of cooking, the nutritional benefit of each ingredient in Khichidi is described. Welcome to a new word where Khichidi dominates a child's imagination. Khichidi is exciting, mysterious, nutritious and historic. Ask your favourite adult to make you the dish more often. You are what you eat, children. To all you young readers of this book, I hope you inculcate from a young age - let food be your medicine and let medicine be your food. You are young and the faster you realise this the better it will be for you. Every dish you eat is made of ingredients and every ingredient has some nutritional value. Nutrition is an important element of eating and cooking. Here is my attempt to make you understand what nutrition means and how it impacts you. I also hope some of you little readers will grow to be chefs someday and reading this book might be a first step towards getting you excited about cooking!

A post graduate from City University of London with course certifications from Harvard University, Cambridge University and MIT, Vidhi has been an avid learner. She loves discovering the world through her children's eyes, and that is what fuels her love for storytelling. Her Montessori-inspired parenting which is rooted in intention, respect, and curiosity, deepens connection to the themes she chooses to write about. Having grown up in a joint family, Meghal has always been surrounded by children. Their emotions, quirks, and little wonders come to her naturally, a gift that lends warmth and authenticity to her writing.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Bhavna Jagnani, a student based in Kolkata, West Bengal, is pursuing English Honours from The Bhawanipur Education Society College. She loves to read and write, is always up for challenges, and aims to become a writer. She has won some awards in the past –won around five Poetry Prompts organised weekly by Kloud9 on its Instagram page story titled ‘Hidden –Can You See It?’ considered as one of the winning short stories of the contest ‘PenFluenza 2.0’ on theme ‘A Photograph’ organised by WriteFluence in December 2021-January 2022, and published in the resultant anthology ‘Sepia’; story titled ‘The Holy Grail’ considered as one of the winning short stories of the contest ‘LGBTQ Romance/Betrayal’ on the theme of betrayal organised by WriteFluence in July-August 2021, and published in the resultant anthology ‘A Lie On Her Lips’; third prize in Inter College Book Review organised by Banwarilal Bhalotia College in September 2021; and third prize in ‘All-India Short Story Contest 2019 (Senior Category)’
